Heritage Pointe Communities in Indiana is continuing to grow—and so are its leaders. Terrence Jent and Kayla Malott are stepping into new roles as part of the organization’s expansion and ongoing commitment to providing exceptional senior care.
The senior living portfolio of Heritage Pointe Communities includes Heritage Pointe of Warren, Heritage Pointe of Fort Wayne, Heritage Pointe of Huntington, and its newest acquisition, Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, Ohio.
Terrence Jent, formerly the Executive Director of Heritage Pointe of Warren, has been promoted to Vice President of Operations for Heritage Pointe Communities. In this role, Jent will oversee operations across multiple campuses, helping shape how they run and cultivating a consistent culture across all locations.
“My goal is to ensure every community has the systems and staff in place to provide the best possible care to our residents,” he says.
Jent will be a familiar face at each Heritage Pointe campus, making regular visits to build relationships with staff, residents, and families. “It’s great to work closely with the other managers and to be present in all of our communities,” he adds.
Alongside Jent, Kayla Malott is preparing to step into the role of Executive Director for the Warren community this summer. Malott, currently serving as the Residential Living Director for Assisted Living in Warren, has been training side-by-side with Jent in preparation.
“It’s a great experience to learn from Terrence,” she says. “I’m learning the many responsibilities of the role and what it means to be an Executive Director.”
Malott brings years of experience in senior care, having served as Director of Nursing and as an Administrator. She is a Licensed Residential Care Administrator and is currently studying to become a Licensed Health Facility Administrator
“There are so many important regulations and responsibilities to learn—ranging from life and safety to building maintenance and nursing,” she explains.
As she looks ahead to her new leadership role, Malott says her focus will remain on maintaining the high level of care and service residents have come to expect. “The big thing is continuing the excellent quality of care and customer service that defines our community.”
Jent’s expanded role also includes helping guide the integration of the Elizabeth Scott Community into the Heritage Pointe family. “It’s exciting to bring new teams of people together,” he says of the acquisition. “Elizabeth Scott had been family-owned for years and was looking for the right owners. We were in a growth mode, and it was a perfect fit.”
Both Heritage Pointe and Elizabeth Scott offer a full continuum of care—including independent living, assisted living, rehabilitation, memory care, and skilled nursing—supporting residents through every stage of aging.
“Elizabeth Scott Community fits naturally with our culture—providing a relaxed, close-knit atmosphere, excellent personalized care, and a vibrant schedule of activities that support mental and physical well-being,” he says.
With these leadership changes and a clear focus on compassionate care, Heritage Pointe Communities continues to honor its mission: helping every resident live life to the fullest.
Like Jent, Malott finds deep meaning in working with older adults. “I love hearing their stories—about their journeys, their experiences,” she says. “There’s so much wisdom there, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their lives.”
