At Heritage Pointe of Huntington, life is active, vibrant and full of opportunities to connect. This is true not just within the walls of the senior living community but throughout the wider area as well.

While the activities calendar is always packed with engaging programs and events at Heritage Point of Huntington, the residents also love getting out and about. In fact, they look forward to the many outings just as much as the events hosted onsite. Whether it’s a relaxing drive through the countryside or a lively lunch with friends, excursions bring energy, variety and a healthy dose of fun to daily life.

A Full Calendar of Fun

The activities team at Heritage Pointe of Huntington plans multiple outings throughout the month. “There’s always great participation,” said Brad Fuller, activity director.

Some of the most popular excursions include:

  • Lunch outings to favorites like Don Hall’s Tavern at Coventry or Cracker Barrel
  • Shopping trips twice a month
  • Visits to nearby museums and historical venues
  • Country drives on Fridays throughout the month, three to four times a month. “We take the scenic route through Huntington County. These drives last about an hour and offer a relaxing way to reconnect with the places and memories that matter most,” said Fuller.

Golf Cart Adventures

Golf carts are another favorite mode of exploration. With seven seats and a driver, “we take it out four times a month in the afternoons for assisted living and healthcare residents. We also dedicate a separate day four times each month for Memory Lane residents to enjoy a ride at their own pace,” said Fuller. “Weather permitting, we often squeeze in extra spontaneous trips too. Residents enjoy the leisurely pace, the breeze and the sights, including a visit over to nearby Huntington University.”

Planned With Purpose, Powered by Joy

While outings are typically scheduled, the team loves finding ways for the residents to have spontaneity when the sun is shining. The energy and anticipation around the trips are contagious. Moments out in the community bring smiles, spark conversations and give residents something fresh to look forward to.

Getting Out Matters

Getting out into the community isn’t just enjoyable. It’s important. Fresh air, new scenery and social engagement outside the building offer real benefits for physical and emotional well-being. Plus, being out and about gives the residents visibility around town, reinforcing that older adults are a vibrant and valued part of the community. It’s good for the residents, and it’s good for Huntington to see their neighbors enjoying life.

Initiatives such as engaging outings in the community, support Heritage Pointe of Huntington’s holistic approach to enhancing all dimensions of wellness including intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, and health services.

At Heritage Pointe of Huntington, the belief is that life is better when you keep moving, keep exploring and keep connecting — and Heritage Pointe of Huntington outings are the perfect way to do just that.
