The only thing better than having one member of the Johnson family caring for the residents of Heritage Pointe of Huntington is having four members of the Johnson family doing so. This is something that fellow staff and residents of the senior living community will attest to. Michelle Johnson and her daughter, Heaven Williams, work full-time at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Michelle is an LPN who circulates among rehabilitation, health care, memory care, and assisted living. Heaven is the Director of Memory Lane. Michelle’s two younger daughters, Jiosa and Jennifer, work full time as CNA’s.

Michelle said that she had always wanted to become a nurse. Pursuing her dream was put on hold for years because she and her daughters cared for her mother-in-law, who had early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. While helping her mother-in-law, she also took classes and worked as much as possible. Although this was a difficult time, she said, it secured her love of caring for seniors. “It took me a long time to become a nurse, but it was worth it,” she said.

Heaven said that in high school, she knew she wanted to go into health care and ultimately decided to go into nursing. She and Michelle both first became CNAs QMAs, and then attended nursing school together.

Michelle described what she likes best about working with seniors. “I’ve always enjoyed listening to them talk about their lives. When I’m with the residents, I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be.” She said many residents don’t have much time with their families. “So I become part of their family. And I’m able to make their lives a little better.”

Heaven said, “Seniors are my people. I love my job. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I can’t imagine not taking care of seniors. They have my heart.”

Both Michelle and Heaven knew of and respected the reputation of Heritage Pointe of Huntington. “And when I started here as a CNA, I was impressed with the care for the residents. The staff and residents were like family. Still today, Heritage Pointe of Huntington has the best caregivers, and it has become a great home for the residents.”

Heaven added, “Heritage Pointe of Huntington is warm and welcoming. It’s the residents’ home, and we make sure it’s comfortable. They’re happy, and the staff takes great care of them. We’re all a team, which is so important.”

“The Johnson family to date has brought many years of service to our community. We are more than fortunate to have these dedicated women caring for our residents and their commitment to our nursing team,” said Jodie Stanley, Administrator of Heritage Pointe of Huntington.
