Heritage Pointe of Huntington made it easier for residents to take part in the democratic process last week by hosting the County Traveling Voting Board on site. The visit allowed registered voters within the community to conveniently cast their ballots for the primary election without leaving campus. Brad Fuller, activities director said that this has been happening for at least the 15 years he has worked there.
A total of 65 residents participated, reflecting a strong commitment to civic engagement and a deep respect for the right to vote.
For resident Nelson Thomas, voting is a lifelong priority. He shared that he has never missed an election and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to vote so easily within his own community.
Fuller noted that the event holds special meaning for residents. “It’s very important to the residents who want to vote. It recognizes their sense of duty,” he said. “They take this fundamental right and treasured privilege seriously.”
By bringing the County Traveling Voting Board directly to campus, Heritage Pointe of Huntington removed barriers and reinforced the importance of participation at every age. The initiative reflects the community’s ongoing commitment to supporting residents’ independence, engagement, and connection to the world around them.
