Tips for a Merry Christmas in Assisted Living

With Christmas just three days away, we wanted to share a few tips to help make this Christmas the best one yet in Assisted Living.

Here are some ideas for making your assisted living apartment feel more like home.

First, decorate! If you have not already, put up some garland, a small tree, and twinkling lights. Gather your family and friends to make some homemade ornaments or popcorn strings. Enjoy decorating for this joyous season and make memories while doing so!

Second, crank up the Christmas music. Holiday tunes are bound to cheer anyone up! While you are at it, go caroling. Hand out words to familiar tunes and take your show on the road! Or…at least around the hallways!

Third, go Christmas shopping. For some, this will seem like a daunting task. But, ask one of your family members, friends, community members, or even the staff to help you accomplish this! Looking for gifts for others will brighten spirits!

Fourth, watch your favorite Christmas movies. Maybe it’s White Christmas, A Christmas Carol, The Nativity Story – or all of the above! Invite some of your loved ones over to join you in a Christmas movie marathon.

Finally, share your favorite Christmas recipes. Doing a recipe exchange not only blesses you, but it will bless those who receive your wonderful foods from over the years!

At Heritage Pointe of Fort Wayne, we want this Christmas to be very merry and bright. If you have more tips to share about how to make Christmas in a retirement community feel more like home, please share!
