FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The residents of Heritage Pointe of Fort Wayne senior living community had a “storm of excitement” when they got to meet Fort Wayne’s favorite weatherman, Greg Shoup of WANE 15 News. Known for predicting sunshine and showers alike, Greg brought his enthusiasm and expertise to the community for a visit residents won’t soon forget.

The group got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the WANE 15 studio, where they saw first-hand how forecasts come together. From satellites orbiting the globe to the intricate mathematics that make predictions possible, residents learned that weather reporting is more than “just a breeze.”

“It was fascinating to see how all the pieces fit together to predict the weather,” said resident Gary Furma, who added, “I guess now I can really say I have a degree in cloud watching!”

The highlight of the visit was when residents had a chance to step in front of the green screen, striking poses and pretending to report the day’s weather themselves. Laughter filled the studio as they imagined forecasting sunny skies, stormy clouds, and everything in between.

Greg Shoup’s visit was a reminder that curiosity and learning can be just as uplifting as a sunny day, and residents left with smiles as bright as the forecast.
